Progress: pg.8
Summary/Reflections:
· Happiness/success cannot be pursued, but must be ensued… it is an unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a course greater than oneself
· Optimal experience = “The best moments occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile”
o Optimal experiences add up to form the sense of mastery
o Flow –> achieve happiness through control over one’s inner life
· Flow: order in consciousness, a state of mind in which people concentrate on the tasks at hand and forget about everything else. The periods of struggling to overcome challenges
· Stressful events do not necessarily diminish happiness --> our response to stress does
· Only our direct control of experience, our ability to derive moment-to-moment enjoyment from everything we do, can overcome the obstacles to fulfillment
Day#1 of Book#3. Stay motivated. Whatever you do.
Happy Chinese New Year! to myself and our fellow readers :)
